Following the technical update, Greg M gives an overview of the ballot proposals for the forthcoming member meeting on 24th October. The hangout is significantly focused on the co-op’s current state regarding funds for future developments and launch of the mainnet. Greg answers pressing questions from members about available funding and he talks about the measures to fill the financial gap. Issues were raised about ensuring an effective means of communication to coordinate for special meetings.
Greg Meredith opens the hangout by recalling the vision of RChain to “reboot the coordination technologies” and reminds us there is an urgent reason why.
Medha leads the community through an update from the dev team. Look for the release of Node 0.7 next week, and the refresh of testnet on the 15th of October. The team is happy to bring on board Rita Allen, who will be working with the SRE team.
This week's Debrief includes a technical explanation of RSong, updates on validator bonding and cost accounting, and updates from the marketing team about website and onboarding improvements. Portfolio companies are starting to set up nodes and write smart contracts. The script used to capture RHOC balances is available for the community to use and review in GitHub. This script supports the issuance of REV in a genesis ceremony. Greg Meredith reminds us of the importance of our relationships and that "our actual work is our best marketing."
The need for more dApps and performance testing remains paramount for robustness of the platform. The technical team is focused on the details for the release of RNode 0.7, 0.8 and 0.9.
RChain Europe went live and test net was launched at RCon3. Kayvan has a fix for a few bugs encountered during the RSong demo and will have the demo running for the next six months.
This week, Greg emphasized the need to start building and testing dApps to uncover bugs and stabilize the network. Greg solicits the help of community members and portfolio companies with getting dApps running and writing code on the platform.
